Studio Art – Illustration

— ABOUT MY WORK
The artwork depicted here merges the conventional art mediums with digital techniques and illustration. I take pleasure in blending the tangible sensation of paint with the virtual world, utilizing tools such as a drawing tablet, scanner, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Corel Painter.

White Tiger

The White Tiger print was initially painted in watercolor and then scanned, serving as the foundation for the digital illustration. The final piece, measuring 20" x 20", was printed on art paper, highlighting the brushstrokes and introducing additional texture.

Pursuit of Happiness

The Pursuit of Happiness is a 20" x 14" poster that tells the story of my friend's immigration from the Netherlands to the U.S. and how this experience compelled him to conceal his true identity in order to gain acceptance. The poster is a creative work that brings together several of my favorite mediums and subjects, including watercolor, digital ink, typography, and maps. I created it using a combination of Corel Painter, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator.

빅토리아

Victoria (빅토리아) is a digitally drawn pen and ink illustration featuring Korean typography. The artwork measures 17" x 16" and is printed on canvas. I created this piece using Adobe Illustrator and Corel Painter.

A image of a gouache painting of a poppy field.

Poppy Field

This 24" x 17" print of a poppy field using gouache paint, which was chosen for its vibrant colors and matte surface. After painting, I digitally enhanced the image to bring out the depth of field, and then printed it on watercolor paper for mass production.

Cardinal in Snow

This 12" x 12" print was inspired by a photograph I took of a cardinal in flight during late winter. The image was digitally painted using oil with a tablet and Corel Painter, and then printed on stretched canvas to create a vibrant and textured piece of art.

MS'd Up the Body

Based on one of my daily sketches, this digital watercolor, oil and ink painting measures 20" x 20" and is printed on watercolor art paper. Using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Corel Painter, this piece is a representation of the sensory anomalies that occur with multiple sclerosis and how this colors and distorts the world we experience around us.
